American businessman Jay Schottenstein is the Co-Vice Chairman of the Board of Axxes Capital. Mr. Schottenstein is currently Executive Chairman and CEO of American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (NYSE: AEO) and Executive Chairman of Designer Brands, Inc. (NYSE: DBI).
Throughout his 40-year career, Mr.Schottenstein has used his experience in retail, real estate, and production to guide the Schottenstein family of companies. The Schottenstein family owns Schottenstein Stores Corporation, where Mr. Schottenstein currently serves as Chairman. The company holds stakes in several major companies such as Value City Furniture and American Signature Inc.
Mr. Schottenstein has been recognized by civic and cultural institutions for his philanthropic giving. He and his wife Jeanie started the Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Foundation, which grants funding to organizations in their hometown of Columbus, Ohio, and throughout the world. In 2008, the Schottensteins pledged $2 million to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center to fund the Jeanie and Jay Schottenstein Prize in Cardiovascular Science. More recently, the Schottensteins donated $10 million to establish the “Jeffrey Schottenstein Program of Resilience,” which offers support for students with mental health issues. The Schottensteins also support several other organizations, such as the Columbus Museum of Art, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, United Way, and the American Red Cross, among others.
