Sergio Unzueta

Sergio Unzueta serves on the Board of Directors for Axxes Capital. A seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience in financial services, he specializes in banking, insurance, asset management, and investment strategy. Throughout his career, he has led complex financial operations, driven corporate growth initiatives, and played a key role in mergers and acquisitions across multiple sectors. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Sociedad Controladora Mercantil Santa Cruz, where he oversees the company’s financial services portfolio and leads its strategic direction. In addition to his leadership role, he serves as a Board Member of Acurio Restaurants and an Advisor to OTG Asset Management.
Previously, Mr. Unzueta held executive positions at Unitum Inc., Flow Mobile, Wipro Infocrossing, Microsoft, Nortel Networks, Bell Communications Research, and AT&T BellSouth. He has been instrumental in major M&A transactions as well as the creation and development of many new companies.
Born and raised in Bolivia, Mr. Unzueta holds a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Finance from Wake Forest University and a Master’s Degree from Instituto de Empresa in Madrid.
